Frequently Asked Questions
In-Person Photography Club

  1. How can I join the AbleVoices (in-person) photography club?

In order to participate in our in-person or virtual photography clubs, you must have already taken the AbleVoices Photography for Self-Expression course (either virtually or in a school/community setting). The reason for this is so that photographers have a foundation for technical and composition skills necessary before going on outings in the community with the Photography Club.

  2. I’ve taken the Photography for Self-Expression course already. When can I join the AbleVoices in-person photography club?

Registration for the in-person photography club happens twice a year. Registration opens in July for the Fall/Spring in-person Photography Club and registration opens in March for the in-person Summer Photography Club program. View our Program/Registration Schedule for a ‘quick view’ of when all programs are offered, how long they last, and when registration opens.

  3. Can I use my phone during AbleVoices Photography Club outings?

We require our photographers to use dedicated cameras during our Photography Club outings. The reason for this is because phones have variable resolution, require different cords for retrieving photos, and have other apps that distract us, such as texting and social media. There are lots of good technical skills that can be learned from using a camera- there are different buttons and settings to work with. AbleVoices has a variety of cameras for photographers to check-out and use during their time enrolled in the program.

  4. What is included in the registration fee for AbleVoices Photography Club?

Registration for the Photography Club happens twice a year. Once for Summer Club and again for Fall/Spring Club.

-In the summer, we have outings (3 hours long) once a week for 8 weeks in June and July. Outings are either Tuesday or Wednesday, from 10am-1pm.
