Frequently Asked Questions
In-Person Photography Club
What are the responsibilities of a Virtual Photography Club Peer Photographer?
Peer Photographers participate in the same weekly activities as our Virtual Photography Club members. This includes taking photos for photo missions, sharing photos with the group virtually, and preparing for sessions in other ways, for example, by watching a short video. Instructors look to Peer Photographers to set an example by being encouraging and modeling good communication and social skills such as active listening, turn taking, question asking, thoughtful commenting, and earnest complimenting.
It is expected that Peer Photographers attend all virtual sessions on time, be present (not distracted by phones, etc.) and use the opportunity to really engage and connect with our photographers. If a Peer Photographer cannot make a session, they are expected to let the instructor know with as much advance notice as possible.
How often does the Virtual Photography Club meet?
Virtual Photography Club sessions meet weekly via Zoom on a variety of days and times. In the Fall, we meet for 10 weeks on the same day and time each week starting just after Labor Day and ending before Thanksgiving. In the Spring, we meet for 10 weeks as well, starting at the beginning of February. In the summer we meet monthly from May-August.
Do I need to sign up to volunteer for a full year of Virtual Photography Club?
It is preferable that Peer Photographers are able to volunteer for a year. There are 24 virtual sessions in one year. The consistency is important to get to know the photographers and build relationships. We understand that some volunteers may not be able to commit to a full year and we appreciate knowing this at the start.
